well ive been using my roller rockers for awhile now and never really shimmed them or did anything just torqued them and that was it i recently blew my motor and had my heads milled .25thousands of an inch do i have to shim them or anything the car runs now but i dont know if im getting the max compression or if there working right i figured i should havbe to put shims in there since its been milled down 25 thousands of an inch any help or sugestions would be apriaciated

If you're using pedestal type rockers then you need to get a .025 shorter pushrod so you will be sure you have max compression

I HAVE CRANE 1.7 BOLT DOWN so o would HAVE TO ADD A SHIM would not having the shims in caused my car to run crapy

If you dont have the shim and just torqued your rockers down, they would be putting too much pressure on the valve, and its possible that they aren't letting the valve fully close, resulting in crappy performance.

Put a 0.025" shim under the rocker, and tighten the bolt down until you can no longer spin the pushrod freely, then if the shim is correct, you will come to your torque spec between 1/4-3/4 of a turn.

If you follow the proper way to install the rockers you will have no problems. But if the heads were milled and the rockers are non adjustable then a shorter pushrod is in your future. All you have to do is tighten the rocker until zero lash (no slop) then proceed to torgue the rocker to the spec probobly 15 ft. lbs. or so. It should get tight within 1/4 to 1 turn. It it takes more then a shim is needed. Start with a thin shim which roughly gives you back a quarter turn and if that is not enough a thick shim will give you back a 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Shim the rocker until it tightens within a 1/4 to 1 turn

The correct spec is 24ft lb.

yes the correct torque spec for pedestal mount rockers is 24 ft/lb, there is no lash or adjusment on these
