Newbie needs help

hi everyone! new to the forums. need your help. i habe a 95 mustang,manual transmission. this morning i started it and each time i revved the engine, i heard a pinging noise. i am quite worried! any idea what this may be? thanks.

I would first check the oil. If it is black in color, change it. Then go from there.
