I need help with a few questions...
My car was lowered when I got it and I want to raise it back to the normal heigth. I don't want the stock springs. What are some good springs to get? I drive the car everyday (when it runs, lol) and have yet to see the track for a 1/4 mile run.
Also my transimisson is cracked on the right side where the Borg & Warner is stamped on it. It's got over 100,000 miles on it. Should I pay a mechanic to fix it, or just save up and buy a new or used tranny? Also, as far as suspension, if I where to get an LX from 87-93 would I be able to transfer my engine/ tranny into it without any problems? Thanks, Keith Last edited by Kamaro Killer; 05-20-2002 at 02:43 AM.. |

Why not use stock springs if thats what you wish to achieve? It will be the cheapest way out. I wouldnt worry about your trans till u have problems, then just buy a good used T-5.
Why not take it to the track? Carlsbad this saturday. Skyler

I wish I could take it there this saturday. It's not running. I've been having one problem after another with it and can't seem to get it started now that I put the new engine back into it.
I figured if I have to buy brand new springs, why not get something that may give me a better or smoother ride, but maybe you're right. I'm not sure of the difference in springs. |

You could always go with stock replacement springs... I mean you coulg get springs from ford or something like that.. but you could try something like a variable rate spring.. something that's smooth on little bumps but will hold hard on corners and stuff, perhaps the fords come with stuff liek that stock, I dunno.. I havent had my car that long... but it's something to checkout..

I believe that most parts will swap between gt & lx.
As for the springs, I just bought FRPP #FMS-M5300-B spring kit it lowers V8 cars 7/8" front & 1/2" rear (the closest i found to stock), but they may be stiffer than you are looking for (450/530lb/in front & 200/300lb/in rear). It's not installed yet so i don't know how the ride is. Oh yea, $135.00 from summit & jegs (free shipping @ summit).
