![]() I failed again for co, it was more than double the allowed limit. Its a mostly stock, freshly tuned 95 gt with 63k on it. The previous owner babied the car, I dont nor do I beat on it but I hardly do any highway driving, most of my commutes are about 15 min. Im thinking I have bad carbon built up and I heard about a carbon treatment that shops do. I guess you hook it up to your fuel system somehow and your car pretty much runs on it then at the very end you dump all of it in till the car stalls. You let the car sit all night, next morning you take it out and get on it hard for a while. Anyone ever heard of this or have this done? I tried that Techron treatment by Chevron, co was still the same next time I went back.

How old are the O2 sensors? Have you replaced them? |

![]() Replaced them 2 days before I went. They can never drive my car. Guy starts the test, one min. later he has to restart it because he cant keep a constant speed. Second time car is on the rollers for atleast 4 min. same crap cant keep a constand speed has to start again!! Third time another guy is driving he does does ok but it still took what felt like 4-5 min. before the test ended. The limit is like 650 co and im putting about 1650.

![]() What were your other numbers? What type of fuel are you using? Where's your timing set at?
You probably do have carbon built up because of the way it's been babied. I'm sure the guy who owned it before you probably always used Premium because it's the most expensive and, therefore, the best. ![]() You may also have clogged injectors. Have you pulled your codes from the computer? Did you do the engine running test? Was your car nice and hot when you got it tested or was the testing station just down the block? ![]() I wonder if the TPS is screwed? It could definately be the problem. How does your car drive?
If you want to decarbon your engine, just spray some water mist into the intake while your car is running. I don't know if your car will run with the MAF disconnected or not, so it may be harder than that to get the job done. The water will de-carbon your engine, it doesn't get any cheaper than that, and it's easy. Right now I'd be leary of the computer and the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). |

![]() Unit, you should be able to disconnect the intake hose from the air box and insert the water mister beyond the MAF. It should work that way. Just don't mist onto the MAF stuff or hit it with the nozzle of the water sprayer.

![]() check your cat's. I have had two buddies with car's with similar milage and stories (late model, 60~80K miles, driven easy) It was the catalitic converters in both cases. Both times they were way over and then they went to way under.

![]() Doe!!! It failed for HC not CO wich I orginaly said in my fist post, cant believe i did that. The cars intake, cam, heads, tb are stock. It has a new mac (cat) h-pipe, I hope they arn't defective. The car drives and runs fine, no problems. My spark plugs are gapped at 52, they are 32c and i did notice on the emmissions sticker and manual it recomends 42c. Ive been running 87 since I bumped my timming back down to 9 a few weeks ago. I havent pulled any codes from the computer. Car was hot when I took it 20 min highway driving. Test was----HC Max 101...mine 22.2 pass
CO Max .56......mine .00 pass NO Max 694......mine 1379.9 fail |

![]() Damn!!!!!! Whats the hell is wrong with me!!! Failed for NO , not CO or HC. I live in CT and just had a bear kill a racoon behind a fence in our back yard last sunday night. We've never had any bears in CT for the 20 years ive been here before so forgive me the mistakes Ive had alot on my mind the past few nights. LOL

![]() NOx emissions are caused by the combustion chamber getting too hot. Pull codes and make sure EGR system is working correctly. EGR is primary emissions component to fight NOx.
