Question Problems with my AOD

I recently converted my 5 speed to an AOD in search for quicker ETs. I have gained a half second in the 1320.

I have a 2500 stall converter, a B&M shift kit and a B&M Megashifter. After a couple of months my 1st to second shift seemed to take a litlle longer till the other day it seemed it wouldn't go into second. Not wanting to take any chances I had the car towed to my mechanic who said it was an adjustment on the TV cable.

I went to pick the car up and the same thing happened. I couldn't get out of second gear. He told me when u first start it up it will seem like an eternity to shift but you just have to put your foot into it. I di and then it shifted about 4 grand and after that it shifted sooner. He said there may be a contaminant in the valve body. I'm getting a 1-2-3 valvebody next week.

How do you adjust the TV cable is in more pressure or less pressure? Appreciate your thoughts on this "sticky" situation.

Loosening, or adding slack to the TV cable will make it shift sooner. The proper way to adjust the cable is by installing a pressure gauge on the port on the side of the tranny, and adjusting cable to, I believe, 35psi. I'd recommend a professional and trusted (if there is such a thing) transmission shop do this. I run a LenTech Street Terminator Lock-Up valve body, and adjusting it as per the directions, made my tranny shift too late. I simply "loosened" it, until it felt right.
FWIW, mine always seems to shift later than normal when it is cold. When it warms up, it's fine.

You gained .5 sec. with an AOD? Wow, unusual, considering your combination. Must have been easy on the clutch.

Anyway, the proper way to adjust your TV cable without the pressure gauges, is to remove the gromment from the TB, slide the white thing out so cable slides freely, make sure it is not binding, make sure the TB is closed all the way, and insert the gromment with no pressure on the cable, locking it into place.
U want the TV cable fully retracted when the TB is closed. This might not be the hardest shifting positon, but it is the longest tranny life position, and the best way without press gauges.

www.baumannengineering.com has a complete
"how to" for adjusting that tv cable.

On the late/hard shifting, when mine did
that, the t valve itself was sticking -
guess that's fairly common. I got a
diff valve body with fewer miles and
that fixed it - also go to a stiffer
tv spring like in baumann's kit (great
kit!) and that will cure the buzzing among
other improvements.

PS (the t valve is the only valve you can take out of the v body without pulling the
v body down - it's on the driver side rear
of the v body. If you feel even the SLIGHTEST drag with your finger, it's too much. VERY sensitive to sticking causing
late/hard shifting.
