Post Easiest way to install my cam??

My friends and I are getting ready to put my new cam in my 91GT, I used to have A/C but I bought the March A/C elim. kit and took all the other stuff out. Anyhow, is it easier to do the cam with the engine in the car or will we have to lift it out???

You can do it with the engine in the car. Just remove the front components and get that radiator out of the way!!! Just remove the accessories out of the way. You have saved yourself a headache by removing the AC and will not have to fuss with a coil or compressor. Remove the top end and lifters and then the cam retention plate, pull the old cam....Be gentle...Lube up the new unit and again gentle slide it in while taking notice not to "bash" the journals and lobes. you should be able to do all of the reverse and keep the engine in the car. Just be very sure to degree the cam correctly if you have a multi-keyed timing gear/chain setup. I recommend the Ford dual timing chaing...It has multiple keyways.

WAIT!!!!! The top end that Lexicon is referring to is the upper and lower intake manifolds, fuel rail, injectors, rocker covers, rockers, etc. Don't forget replacing the pushrods and lifters in the same holes and orientation that they came out of. Also, proper torques when reassembling. A manual is good to refer to if you've never done it before and for proper torques and sequences for the manifolds. Don't forget to torque down rockers with the lifters on the base circle of the cam (start with #1 cylinder in compression and then follow the firing order). It is actually very easy.
