I have a Dry NOS kit and I was wondering whats a good shot to use just to have some fun on the weekends and run 13's at the track cause I have the jets for a 50 and a 75 shot, and how hard is a dry kit on the motor cause I have a 90gt with 138k doesnt burn any oil and runs great, also what kinda clutches are good with a NOS shot under 100hp?

I have the same kit, 75hp. I called NOS and got a 100hp jet. I allways used that. It will eventually put some wear on the motor. You should do a few other changes to go with it though.

			1. A hotter coil MSD blaster is good $30.00 2. A 6AL box also. $ 175.00 3. A MSD timing controller $90.00 4. A fuel pressure regulator $45.00 5. Always keep fresh plugs in it, I use Boshe Platniam (Spelling sucks) I know this is a lot of added cost, but it is for your own good. You can switch to NOS without having to retard timing under the hood. It can be done while driving. Also you can adjust for bad gas. Hope I didn't scare you. Good luck, Jason

I used 125 and 150 jets for my dry kit, never had a problem, but remember, like 88workcar said, retard your timing, use good gas 92 or higher octane, and have a good igntion and fuel system. That's cheap insurance in the long run, and makes for a stronger N/A platform too.

I do question the use of platinum plugs with nitrous, I've seen two engines destroyed by use of platinum plugs (everything else was in good tune). The only changes were the plugs. And I remember a discussion on this forum a while back about it too. I could be wrong, so don't take this as gospel or flaming, but don't use platinum plugs with nitrous.

...I've heard the same about platinum plugs w/ nitrous being a "no-no"

...a set of Autolite's or NGK's should be fine, maybe try one heat range colder on the 75 shot and 10 deg. initial timing w/ Premium pump gas, and tune from there. An MSD window switch (coupled w/ a WOT switch) is a good activation setup to use for over-rev protection, especially with a manual trans. ...for either power-shifting or if you miss a gear, or bounce off the rev limiter from lack of traction on the street, for example, and still have the nitrous flowing.... BANG! I've tried a push button setup before, but I'm not coordinated enough to use one effectively ![]() Centerforce Dual Friction setup is a good clutch... I've also heard very good things about Spec Clutches... I'd say either And dittos to the hotter ign. system and adj. fuel press. reg. |

If you are only going to be going 13's on a 75 shot, then EVERYTHING stock is fine. Just run premium pump gas and keep the base timing at 10 degrees. And stick to a copper plug.

The N.O.S. dry kit comes with a WOT switch, so that is covered. I ran the same kit on my car for a couple years with no problems. I bought the car with almost 170,000 miles on it too.

Scrapla... I agree w/ exgmguy... you don't have to rush out and buy an MSD box, etc. ...but it never hurts to have one ...just be sure to, at the very least, run fresh plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, etc. if you haven't changed 'em in awhile. A tune-up in other words... there are a very large selection of add-on accessories available to make your nitrous system work to it best ability, some you can get by without. It ultimately depends on your budget and what you have planned for the future, right? |
