Look at this PIC- Are these Mil eliminators?
I posted below that I have had an O\R H-pipe and everyone said the check engine light would come on and for a good 3-4 months no light and it just came on now. I know to get mil eliminators but these kinda look like them, I better make sure these arent them, I am pretty sure there not them but what might these be???

Those are just the plugs, used to connect the O2 sensor to the wiring harness. I have some mil eliminators that I'm selling for $20. If your interested let me know. Dalla Mustang has some pretty good ones, they're supposed to correct the Air/Fuel ratio as well as get rid of the MIL.

One of my friends told me that. I would verify that if I was you before I buy them.

When you remove your catalatic converters the ECU corrects the A/F to run the car lean, because it thinks that the car is putting out too much emmisions. If the MIL's from Dallas mustang don't correct the A/F then you will need to get a pro-M optimizer, if I recall right they are somewhere aroung $300-$400. The car will probably run a little lean, but when you floor it your A/F should be fine. As long as you don't get any detonation you shouldn't have anything to worry about. (you might get better gas milage) The pro-m optimizer could be a very useful bolt on for your car, you might be interested in getting one even if your car isn't running that lean. It should be running lean though as far as I know. I believe that Brother's performance told me this. Hopefully someone else on this forum will back my statements up, 'cause I'm not an EXPERT on the 4.6.
Anybody out there know what I'm talking about? |

Hmm, just curious but I have a Bassani catted X and after install, the exhaust reaks quite a bit more (which was expected) but it smells like unburnt fuel AND my fuel economy has dropped by about 8-12% so I thought the car was going into a run rich mode (although running leaner would make more sense). My friend also thought the same thing (about running rich) with his catted X in his '01 Cobra because he swore he got more power when the SES light came one (and he is not a BS'er). I also heard the upper O2 are the ones that controlled the A/F ratio and the lower ones were only for monitoring purposes??? My SES light comes on once in a while which is also when fuel economy drops the most so I thought I should pick up MIL eliminators. But now after reading this, I wonder if this will eliminate the SES light only and not fix the other stuff.

that is weird. Yeah, the front O2's are for the A/F and the rear are for monitoring, but the catch is (to my knowldege) the front only control under full throttle, and the rear control under normal driving. This wouldn't hurt the engine as long as there is no detonation in low rpms.
As far as your car getting worse mileage, that is strange. Did you change the maf or the injectors, or the fuel pump? It shouldn't change the A/F if you still have a cat on there. I think. This is to complicated for me, we need some professional help, somebody has to know the answers to this thread. Anybody? |
