			 I just picked up a CE 8 point roll cage. I has no plates and no instructions. How much lea-way do I have? I want to put the center bar on top of the "step" where the back seat used to be. 			Used bent bars for the doors and placed the hoop on the floor (not on top of the ridge.) Also deleted rears and put straight bars to the frame on the hump. Email me and i will try to dig up some pics, I think I have some of the finished product. Remember, measure and fit 2x cut once.!!! A slight change in angle produces a huge difference in placement. I learned the hard way. later Mike

			 Moving the main hoop onto the "step" is an excellent idea.  So is makeing the horizontal bar (behind the 2 front seats) "C" chaped to allow the seat to move more rearward.

			 Before moving the hoop anywhere I would check the NHRA rule book. As your car gets faster they lay down the law harder. I don't think moving it up on the step would make the body as stiff as it would if you put it on the floor.  When welded to the floor it conectes the subframe to the cage.

			 88workcar, I put an S&W in my convertible.  With mine the back seat is accessible, but nobody can sit there unless I drop the top, and it doesn't look very comfortable.  As for the door bars, we cut the fwd end down a little bit, to make it a little easier to get in and out.  But they fit snug against the doors, we didn't bend them any.   
		
	
		
		
		
		
		
		
			BTW, convertibles may suck, but it sure came in handy for my cage installation!
