Default 351w or 351m?

you most certainly do NOT want to use a 351m for it was intended strictly to be used to as a truck motor and it was never an effective motor for a truck . it is big heavy slow and proan to spark knocking . if want a big block use a 460 it actually fits better than a windsor does in a fox body but you cant beat the performance of a windsor motor i love mine to death and i seem to be the envy of the neighborhood .

Default which tranny?

you can use either a c6 automatic which is probably the easiest direct bolt up match or you can buy a kit and use a chevy trans like a 700r4 which is a 4spd overdrive automatic or any chevy automatic for that matter . but if you use a 351w you can use a c4 or a c6 which are both 3spd autos c4 being light weight and c6 being heavy duty , and for manual transmissions you can use an older top loader say out of an early model mustang 1965 and later which was a 4spd non overdrive unit or you can use a SROD 4 spd overdrive from a 79 to 84 mustang which is a strong unit but not a smooth operating trans, or you can a t5 5spd or an AOD, AODE not to mention the c4,aod,srod, and t5 will all use the same driveshaft for easy of installation and require no crossmember modifications my car started out with a srod tranny and was then switched to a c4 then back to a srod and it now has a t5 out of a 94 cobra but the 94 and up t5's have a longer input shaft which will have to be change over to an earlier style input shaft but that is easy to do but you need to make sure you use an 86 to 93 bellhouse also but the 94 and upts is a much better tranny than the 86 to 93 models

Default which block?

if you are going to use this as a daily driver then i wouldnt waist my money on a SVO or sportsman block i would just use a factory truck block or if available a 351 out of a crown vic which would be a roller block where as a truck block is a non roller motor but that is easily remidied with a set of tie-bar rollers you would much better served spending your money on a good set of trick flow street heat heads with 185cc intake runners
