Question Speedcal on 97 GT??

I have a 97 GT and when i was putting in my shifter i notice a conector near the trany tunnel. It looks like the same one for a speedcal, I though you could only use the speedcal on 99+ mustangs? Am i wrong on does that conector just do nothing?

If i can use a speedcal to correct gears could i do it electonicly(not with 23 tooth gear or whatever). I thought you had to correct gears with speedo gear on 98's and below?

Thanks for the input if you can understand what im talking about

you can use a speedcal on 96-98 mustangs with a auto or 5 speed and on 99+ mustangs with a 5 speed. only and I got that info from the guy that invented the speedcal

I would not drive on bad u joints cause if the front one breaks the it can be real ugly
if the rear one breaks it not as bad but I would either just get new u joints or spend the 150 on a frpp driveshaft and 10mins of your day to put in

when under accelerations it makes like at fast clicking noise, thats the u joints right, or what else could it be. I know you can't give complete diagnosis without seein it but anything helps.

thanks
