I'm still looking to buy a nice mustang. Just a few days ago I looked at a Mustang '73 conv, Q-code. I'm not really fond of the 70's models, but my question is: what does Q-code mean? Has this got something to do with the VIN#?

yes q code is part of the vin and it has something to do with the motor. Mine is an r-code which means it came with ram air i am not sure what the q-code stands for. But I am sure other people on this site will know they are very knowlegeble.

BaZ, according to my old Chilton's Mustang guide, a Q code for '73 is a 351 Clevland, 4-V, HO. In '69 and 70, the Q code meant a 428 CJ. As you can see, in different years the same letter might mean different things. Hope this helps a little. Have fun with the new old Stang what ever you end up getting.

"Q" was a 351C with 4 barrel, High output. Early 70's I remember. Powerful engine too.

I'd like to thank you all for the quick reply!!! It's great to be on a forum/newsgroup where they don't say "RTFM" to the newbies... ;-)
