A K&N filter element in itself will not improve your performance or gas milage. I can see no benefit in spending $40+ for an element. Sure, you can clean it and reuse it.
Why hassle with all that, when you can get Motorcraft filters for about $4, and don't have to mess with cleaning and re-oiling? When mine gets dirty, it's going in the trash and I will replace with a Motorcraft.
