If only one mixture screw is working, you've got other problems. A 4-corner idle system feeds the rear cylinders a little better, allowing a more even distribution. Is it necessary? No, because any advantage disappears by about 1500 to 1800 RPMs. The disadvantage is you have four mixture screws to adjust and synchronize, instead of two.
