Been Busy: Grinch update
The last I was here, I was going with a turbo. I ran a 11 @ 113 with the combo below. I got a used turbo pkg, 70mm masterpower, carb, intake, BOV, complete kit. (home made) It was set at 14psi, I had a few jetting issues, not bad. I live 8 miles from Noproblenraceway and never made it.
I did go out on the street a few times. It was all the beast one could imagine It also lifted the heads in 3 places. Killed a piston, and was hard to shift. I had to put a 7k chip in the MSD to shift at 5500 and stay off the rev limiter. When it came on, it was like a light switch. I have dreamed of owning a turbo car for 20 years. Mine was not what I dreamed of. And it was time to face reality. The short block was a time bomb, The tremac needed some serious upgrades or I needed an automatic. Money is not the problem anymore for me, but I was faced with another 7k of expense (short block & tranny) and decided to do what I feel is best for me. I have had a built 342 setting in the shed for 3 years now and it needed to be finished. An engine builder from east LA. came buy a 92 notch, the turbo set up, My blown motor, tranny, 4.30 old 8.8 rear. He also took the 342 to finish it. It will recieve a set of TFS high ports, 2.10 intakes, exh ?, a Bennet racing $2500 port job, titanium springs, locks, retainers, ect...1.7 rr and a stud girdle for the rockers, A solid roller (.670 lift ?), a super victor intake and a Pro Systems Patrick James carb, Kooks 2" custom headers, a spec 3 clutch, and a fresh tricked out tremac 3550. It will be 10. to 1 comp, pump gas, and is suppose to make right under 600hp at 6800rpms. It will be reddy mid Feb. needless to say, I am waiting for it. When I did the turbo, I put a new 8.8 in the car. 33 spline mosers, a spool, c-clip ilms, 5 lug (All 4 corners), upr uppers and lowwers and battle boxes, new well wheels, 28 x 10 BFGs, A whole new Aeromotive fuel system ($1000), and a few other dollars here and there. Any way, Im still here, I have been working over time for the last year and a half. I will update again as we start track testing the motor, which should be fun in a 2600lb car. Glad to be back at it.
