sounds like a messed up race, with him leaving early.
could you tell if he was spinning bad? something doesn't sound right, either with his car or his driving, it would be really hard to chase down a sc'd ta that you admit left the line early. most street races are won on the launch, but since he jumped the launch and techmically should have the faster car (sc'd lt1 or ls1, can't remember your origanal post) it seems wierd that you caught then stayed with him. i would take him to the track and see what he can do.
