![]() Find the 8" rear or order an equivalent from a drive train specialist shop. Get V8 GT leaf springs (4 leaf) and shackle kits. Install the leaf springs and shakle kits. You'll swap the rears as you reassemble. Install the driveshaft. If the universal won't fit, then take your driveshaft to a drive shaft specialist and have the rear yoke changed to fit V8 universal parts. When done, the driveshaft should have 7/8" to 1" travel at the transmission slip yoke. Drive until you're ready for your V* swap. When doing this you can pick any rear ratio you want but the best will likely be 3:00 or 3:25 for your situation.
