I let the valve hang on the side of the intake. This let's the computer see that the valve still exists. I took off all the vacuum lines when I removed the smog pump. The valve never actuates but I get all the computer codes for EGR valve. I removed the tube and cut it off with a tubing cutter. A hacksaw/cutting wheel will work as long as you don't crush the tube. Then I got a copper tubing cap from the local hardware/plumbing supply and I JB-welded it to the tube. Worked perfectly. If my car was handy, I'd take a pic and send it to ya.
