Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I thought that limited slip had a "clutch", or friction plate of some kind, that when the drive wheel slipped beyond a certain point, the friction on the plate causes it to swell and grab, there fore engaging the "clutch" and turning the other wheel, and posi just turned both wheels all the time.
