by putting a bigger tailpipe on you may gain a little more low end torque..but i don't think it will be noticeable. If you can get it inspected fairly easily just cut the tailpipes off and run the flowmasters and i guarantee you..that you will get that Flowmaster sound that your looking for. Also, do you have a off road pipe?? Having converters on the car will also make it significantly quieter. And last..why in the world do you want that popping sound when you slow down?? That's the worst sound that could come out of a mustang. It sounds like a redneck pickup truck with glasspacks.
