Its hard to tell where a shot comes from, especially in the city. Coming by you is a different story.
Most veterans could make a head shot at 150 yards with open sights. A body shot again, is nominal experience. Cant tell distance from a gun shot wound. Example: A low velocity round may produce the same wound from close distance, as a high velocity round at a further distance.
