![]() From my past experience with those 5.0s, most of them (maybe even all of them) have the same block, crank, and rods as their HO counterparts. However, the rest of the engine left alot to be desired. As mentioned earlier, the cam was very mild and the rest of it was built to be a dependable grocery getter and nothing more. The pistons are not forged either. They are some stock flattop piston not made for an HO application. I've found them to be a great source of spare rods for HOs(just be sure to check the casting numbers). I paid $35 for the last one of those 5.0s I bought. So, for $35 I got a good block, crank, 8 rods, timing cover, etc... A cheap way to start a good HO buildup.
