I liked my Carter AFB 625 for daily driving and mileage but performance-wise, it wasn't giving me what I wanted, I just switched to a Holley 650 double pumper.
I'd also suggest the new holley street avenger carbs, the 570 or 670 depending on mods and they won't need much for tuning.
