I don't know if he did, but I have. I wasn't aware that that would cause a problem. I have also experienced the "heat" problem, but only after several hours of use on long road trips. Would you please explain to me why joining those wires would cause a problem, and what other solution there is, that would work safely, that would allow the units use without having to turn the ignition on? I don't usually ask many questions here, but would really like to know! Please advise.
