I've heard that a good way to break in a performance engine is drive the first couple hundred miles constantly varying the rpms across the entire range, ie. idle to just below redline, while not going WOT.
Supposedly this causes everything to be on the loose side, netting more power. Of course, the drawback is some oil consumption from the looseness of the rings, etc. Never done it, just hearsay. Anybody else heard of this? Rich D. |
