I hadn't really considered it for my application, like you said, better to wait till there is an obvious need or the stock gear needs replacing. But there was a guy who was asking about alternators and he was wondering what effect an upgrade would have on his "MSD" unit. I wasn't sure what the function an msd was. It sounds like a good idea however, even if your stock gear isn't worn out yet.
