clutch problems. long, but please read and suggest.
this all started when i installed a new ram HD clutch. at first, it was to fix a rattling, but that turned out to be the heat shields on my cats. anyway, when i was breaking the clutch in, the point where the clutch grabbed, moved from the VERY top of the pedal to the very bottom, after i snapped a few shifts.
so i installed this new triple pickup quadrant, a firewall adjuster, and an adjustable clutch cable. they went in just fine, and work great. the pedal motion isn't as stiff or as smooth as I would have liked it, but it was fine when I first started moving. anyway, the problem I was trying to fix, when i shift hard, or race, or chirp 2nd or 3rd gear, the point at which the clutch engages, moves down. now I set the firewall adjuster so it was at the point i wanted it when i first set it up, then I was driving around for a bit, and having fun etc but now the clutch in grabbing at the bottom of the pedal stroke, opposed to the top which is where I had it set at first. this was the same problem I was having with the stock cable and quadrant. Also, after driving for a bit, the pedal doesn't move as smoothly. WHAT DO I DO???!?!?!?! someone please help me out. I can't figure out this problem. I am so sick of having to try and troubleshoot these things, and then I usually end up replacing something that doesn't need replacing and then something else gets broken or doesn't work as well in the process, so i have a even bigger mess on my hands. I just don't know what to do. I love this car, but I think that mine might be posessed. ------------------ |
