Default oxidation?

Car is out for the summer and need to do something about the oxidation on the hood, top and rear of the car...the guy who previously had it left it out in the sun all the time...is there something i can put on it to get the black color to really shine up again...usually once a year i use the 3 step maguire's set of waxes but was wondering if there was anything else anyone used or knows that works better? this may be way off but a guy said that rubbing diesel fuel on your car with a towel gets it back to the original paint...just need some feedback
thanks
