Default 89 LX Convertible Floor Pan Replacement

Hey guys,

I've got myself a nice 89 LX 'vert that appears to have spent some time in the rain with the top down. The passenger side floor pan is in the process of being replaced, but I've hit a snag: since it's a convertible, it has extra structural reinforcements along the rocker area inside the door, and they cover up part of the floor pan. Is it safe to cut these out as long as the car is supported (not lifted, just held in place) by jacks, or is there another way around?

I've attached a picture to give you a better idea what I'm talking about.

Thanks in advance for your input.
