![]() A few things to consider:
I'm not saying it's never happened, but I have NEVER seen a bone stock LS1 (down to the air filter and tires) pull a 12 second time slip.... and I frequent the track a lot... I have seen some consistant low 13s from some stockers, but never a 12... I have also seen a bone stock 99-01 GT (down to air filter and tires) pull 13.9s consistantly. I would say from the average of my experience, a bone stock LS1 is about .5-.7 seconds faster in the quarter than a stock GT... The original question, is a second in the quarter mile or not.... its a bigger difference than you think... As far as the question of what to buy... Well I agree with the folks above. Test drive em all and see what you like. A couple things to remember: 1. The stang has a bright future, the LS1? 2. There's already a large aftermarket for the 4.6, and its getting larger everyday... 3. While there are some issues, overall the 4.6 is a VERY reliable engine and the quality of the car is better than the camaro (in my opinion) 4. The GT's cheaper... (You might even be able to buy a blower in the cost difference...)
