IMHO a muffled thunder is more appealing than a hollow loudness. When I bought the car it had straight pipes with no cats. I like the BBK/Cat setup better. It does quiet it down a bit, but I like it a little quieter. When I get on it, you can still hear the engine roar above my 2 Tens in the back, but it can also be quiet when that cop is sitting and staring at you. LOL.
