how to tell axle spline???

Yeah, by accident i threw out my tag on the back of my axle housing. Is there another way of telling what axle splines i have without having to take them out?
And also has anyone rebuilt their traction lock rearends?

Is your rear-end a 8.8?

They come stock from the factory with 28-spline axles.

How much can a stock rear end take? If you put in a new diff and 31 spline axels, then how much can the 8.8 take?

I thought there were two different options of axle splines? on an 89 lx 5.0

there were no spline options from the factory...all mustangs came with 28 spline axles. There WERE gears options though, ranging from 2.73 to 3.27 depending on the transmission.
