If you change the fluid later then it loosens the residue and build up and clogs causing the tranny to burn up(due to the heat I assume). So I would say changing the fluid would be worse than not at this point. Good luck with it..

I'm not surprised to hear that b/c i've heard something like that b4. I may be a little off, but I would assume that the only time you would need to change the tranny fluid would be if you got it rebuilt.
