I i wanted to say before is that it works and while it is weaker it will hold up to some abuse. I have had mine in for a while and havent come across anything yet. But if something goes wrong it wont happen over time anyways. As for torque handling i know the 4 cyl one only handles 240lb ft but the earlier v8 t5's only held 265. 89' was when they started making the ones which could handle 300lb ft. But if your on a budget, like me, you can make due with the 4cyl tranny, but dont expect it to last forever. But if you can go for a new tranny, im looking into a 6spd for mine over the summer.
