I am having a hard time understanding why a leak keeps you from getting an alignment because the cylinder has nothing to do with adjustments, me thinks the shop was hoping to make some money.
But anyways resealing one of these cylinders is not difficult but it depends on your ability's and be careful after fixing this on the next thing this shop says is bad.
