Porting your stock heads is a good idea if you are going to do it yourself but, I would go with the Explorer heads they flow way better than your stock E7's.

I bought my E7's already ported and polished....So lets see...

Ported and polished E7's $220.00

3 angle valve job, high $190.00
performance valve springs
Teflon seals and milled
20 thousanths

I feel I got a good deal on my heads for a total or $410.00.....but the GT-40 heads that come stock on the explorers have way more potential and untouched they will flow a little better than my tricked out stock E7's.

Good luck,
