Default Double CLutching

What I've been told by many people, one person I listened to deffintly was my grandfather who used to race cars alot. Double clutching would be like...Shifting down from any gear into nuetral, leting the clutch out, reving it a little above where the gear you shift into next would catch at that speed, and then quickly downshifting into the gear. Double clutching actually wears less on the clutch. This Double clutching actually synchronizes the flywheel with the rest of the tranny. Therefor the flywheel and clutch are spinning closer in speeds which promotes less wear on the clutch. Hope this helps.
