I'm 16 (Soon to be 17) and it took me awhile to convince my parents to let me buy my GT but after kissing their @$$ for a few months they let me buy it last summer. They said as long as I can make the payments I can have it. My insurance is actually not that bad either ($150 a month). As long as you say you are the primary driver on of you parents cars and not the 'Stang you insurance won't be so bad. It's good to see a fellow teenager that isn't into rice burners still exists.
