If you didn't take your foot off the gas while engaging the clutch, you would rev the #*^$# out of your engine. Powershifting is, I believe, shifting while the pedal is floored without pushing in the clutch....Stock trannies will often blow third if you do this.

I have 113 thousand miles on my car with the original tranny and engine (neither close to needing replacement). I floor it to 5000 when getting on the freeway like everyday. As long as you shift cleanly, you should be perfectly fine pushing your engine to 5k.

It is actually good to baby it for a while, but you should be fine now.
