I also agree...Ignition Module. What happened it that the lithium grease prolly dried up or burned up. The module then got too hot and quit. It happened in my 89 Broncho 5.0 a lot. I think they run aout $40, or you could try geting some white lithium grease from Autozone and see if that works first.
