What a load of crap. Here's my .02 on child rearing...
Parents are responsible for shaping the way a kid interacts with the world. If you do not discipline a child, they will not understand the limits of society. Some behaviors in society have immediate phyiscal resluts. This is the place that spanking has in childrearing. You gotta teach them that if they mouth off, or some behaviors, somebody out there is going to beat them down. I DO NOT condone abuse, and I think spanking is different. Other behaviors result in seperation from society, ie jail. This is known as a 'time out' to kids. The secret is to use them both appropriatly and consistently. At least from what I have observed as a student of child rearing. When they are misued, or not used at all, is when problems arise. Like I said at the begining just my .02
