Do it yourself bro! That's what I did...I made a cold air intake for 18 bucks!!! (plus $40 for the K&N) Your daddy will be so proud that you made something for him and the good thing is you don't have to tell him it only cost $18. As far as performance, if you do yours right, the same performance should be gained from those brand name kits (minus the shiny chrome of course). If you think about it, your really paying for the MAF that comes with those kits. You dont need another MAF, just use the stock one! Just a suggestion. Good luck.
