To get to the cruise you pull out the drivers side plastic wheel well, it's right behind it. It's a big round looking thing that has a couple wires and a couple vacuum lines coming out of it. I took mine out from my 85 so if everything isn't exactly the same it's close. There is also a black box near your clutch pedal called the amplifier(the brain). You also will want to check the button on your steering wheel, and I think there is a link to the speedo input also as 88GT5.0 said.
