head gasket sounds like a good assumption to me, same thing happened with mine when my head gasket went south, did you have it done or did you replace the head gaskets yourself? if you did them, did you have your heads flattened to make sure they would seal properly? also you didnt use anykind of sealant on the gaskets did you? did you re-use the stock head bolts? if so, they are probably streatched and didn't torque properly, good luck with it
