![]() I agree that you would be better served to get one done on a dyno, but I disagree that advancing your timing will give you the same results. I put a JET chip in my truck 3 years ago, and could not believe the difference. 6 months ago, I developed a small problem during cold starts that I traced back to the chip, so I pulled it. That was when I really noticed the difference. It worked all the time, not just at WOT, like they used to. It also varied the timing. When I tried advancing the timing to mimic the chip, I never quite found the same power, and the truck ran significantly hotter. Then there's the issue of an automatic tranny. My truck has a 5 speed, but those chips are a Godsend to anyone with a Ford automatic tranny!
