Here's my experience. Mine was showing the same on the factory gauge, too. I finally gave in and bought an Autometer gauge.
25-psi @ idle 60-psi @ speed All with 100,000 miles on the engine. Now the stories a bit different, 15 at idle, 40 at speed (40,000 miles later). Yep, I'm getting it rebuilt next week. My McLarens never budged. 3/4 mark at all times. After the new gauge it shows, 30 @ idle, 70 @ speed. My advice is to take what the stock gauges show with a grain of salt. Peace of mind is worth the new gauge, even if it's a cheapie from Wal-Mart. ------------------ Robert 91GT; 88 ASC McLaren #709 |
