Well, I got the extension to spin the pump driveshaft and as I was trying to seat the socket end over the pump driveshaft shaft, the shaft fell into the pan...I'm assuming that the shaft is snapped, or can it just be pulled out of the pump easily...Either way, I have to now drop the pan to get it out. I really want to do it myself, as the mechanics I've spoken to talk of removing the whole enging to do it with a cost of $250-400.00 for labor alone. I don't have those kind of bucks. I guess I'm nervous about this because of the lifting of the block. Can anyone give me some advice or tips, or a simple preocedure to do this? Thanks in advance, and thanks to all that have helped already.
