I had the same problem when I rebuilt my engine. My distributor didnt want to fall into place
 ...............I just kept messing with it till it fell into place. No thats a lie, actually what happened is I got tired of messing with it and tapped on it till it went in.Maybe not the best method but tit worked for me. Later,
