![]() Don't worry you seem to be in the right path. I started the same way as you w/ my modified, aod gt. I use to run the d.o.t. Indy SS profile G6015's from Mickey Thompson, but they were not even enough. Just like what Mike said "Get some real slicks", Get the 8.5 x 26 inch ET Drags by Mickey Thompsons on 10 holes. Don't even waste your money with BFGoodrich or Nittos, as they will never hookup as good as slicks. With the former Indy SS tires, my best et's were low 14's at 99-100 mph. I then switched to ET Drags and immediately went mid 13's at 105 mph. With more practice, I eventually got it down to 12.8's @ 105.5mph. The latter time was accomplished after buying a Hurst lineloc for a better burnout. I don't even stall the convertor, as I stage at idle and when the last yellow comes, I just flat punch it and am able to flash past my 3000 stall convertor. Without slicks, I was barking each gear and going sideways, wasting precious et and mph.
Regards, Ron |
