I am unsure of the polatiry issue, but I do know this. The wires have to be soldered. A friend of mine put a new motor in his CRX and used butt connectors, and the thing ran like garbage. He took it to a speed shop, they cut out the butt connectors and soldered the wires, and now it runs fine. Butt connectors have too much resistance.
